View All Aggregate / Screens Aggregate / Screens - CEC Show All 6X16 There are many types of heavy construction and mining equipment, each with their own unique purpose. The following might give you a general idea as to what each type does and when they might be used: RIGID FRAME TRUCKS - These trucks are capable of carrying extremely heavy loads. The chassis is a one piece frame where the rear axles, front axles, and drive-train all reside, similar to a standard pick-up truck. Rigid Frame trucks come in many sizes, shapes, and configurations such as: rigid frame end-dump, rigid frame water truck, rigid frame fuel-lube truck, rigid frame slag pot transport, rigid frame container hauler, and several others. Rigid frame trucks can be powered by a conventional diesel engine or electric motors and come in two wheel drive, four wheel drive, and all-wheel drive. ARTICULATED TRUCKS - These trucks are typically used where a tight turning radius is required. They typically can not carry as much weight as a rigid frame truck. Articulated trucks have a front half where the engine and cab are, and a back half where the rear axle and bed are. The two halves are connected via a center pin. The front half typically only has one axle and can not be driven unless connected to the rear half. Care must be taken when fully articulating the truck so that the load does not tip over. CRAWLER TRACTORS - Crawler Tractors or chain tractors are most suitable for the heavy work of earth-moving and land reclamation. Crawler tractors are designed to move a large amount of material when conditions are not favorable for rubber tired equipment WHEEL LOADERS - Wheel loaders are versatile machines utilized in applications that require moving as much material as possible in the least amount of time to meet production goals. HYDRAULIC EXCAVATORS - Hydraulic Excavators, teamed with dump trucks, are able to move a lot of material very quickly. Hydraulic Excavators have become standard heavy equipment at many construction sites. |
